Mammography Seminar
This is a 27.25-hour approved course that provides initial training. Students will be required to perform clinical experience requirements mandated by the ARRT prior to applying for the ARRT certification exam. Clinical is not assigned by JCC. Classes are held on campus in the radiology department two consecutive Saturdays and Sundays during summer and fall semesters. Contact (919) 209-2156 for more information.
Foundations of Sonography Course
This course is designed to provide prospective students with an overview of the sonography profession, academic necessities, clinical requirements and professional demands of a practicing clinical sonographer. The course will include topics such as related medical terminology, professional environment and ethics, the history of ultrasound in medicine, sonographic specialties and an analysis of the role of the sonographer in patient care. Upon completion, the learner will be prepared to describe the role of a sonographer in the clinical setting and the various applications of diagnostic ultrasound in medicine.
Intro to Cardiac and EKG Course
This course is designed to provide an overview of basic cardiac anatomy, the cardiac conduction system, and an introduction to electrocardiography. The course will include topics such as basic heart anatomy, the electrical conduction system of the heart, and an overview of normal and abnormal 12-lead electrocardiogram evaluation. Upon completion, the learner will be prepared to describe cardiac anatomy and the cardiac conduction system of the heart, be capable of performing and analyzing a standard 12-lead electrocardiogram and be able to recognize common cardiac arrhythmias on an electrocardiogram.
